During my academic period I obtained LLB in law studying at Nottingham Trent University and latterly at Guildhall University (currently known as Metropolitan University) where I gained the Legal Practice Course. I was admitted to the roll as a solicitor in 2003.
However, my legal career began as a court Legal Adviser to Magistrates and Judges in various courts in London. For 19 years I advised the court on adult and youth crime, obtaining a wealth of experience in the criminal justice system, serving as a civil servant in the Ministry of Justice. I also gained experience in mental health, judicial review and case stated.
My experience led me to teaching the Legal Practice course to university students where I taught criminal law, employment law and advocacy. I supervised research students as well as students in the Family pro bono clinic.
