SASKIA WITNEY

Saskia completed a Joint Honours undergraduate degree in Music and History at Cardiff University in 2017. She subsequently studied at Cardiff Law School for a Graduate Diploma in Law achieving a Commendation in 2018. Whilst completing her law degree, she gained experience in Private Client, Employment Law and Trusts in both law firms and barristers’ chambers.

 

Saskia enjoys working as a member of the Bison team, and highly values the opportunity to make a difference by representing her clients’ legal interests.  She has always been passionate about defending individuals’ human rights and finds practising Mental Health Law to be simultaneously challenging and rewarding.

Saskia’s clients are detained pursuant to the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007). She has experience in representing clients subject to sections 2, 3, 17A (Community Treatment Orders), 37, 37/41, 41 and 47/49 of the Act. Saskia’s experience includes representing clients at Hospital Managers’ Hearings, attending Care Programme Approach meetings, preparing cases for the First-tier Tribunal and liaising with Mental Health professionals in order to obtain the best possible outcome for her clients in accordance with their wishes.

 

In her spare time Saskia enjoys listening to and performing music, as well as expanding her general knowledge by engaging in a good book, listening to a podcast and travelling to explore different cultures.
